January

Written by John Teague

The shuffle of a page turn

All the things we’ve come to learn

Some worth keeping some to burn

It’s all worth living

It's kindle for a hot fire

Useless as a joke prior

To the fumbled punchline

A meaningful mention

But…

I tip my hat to you

First line of chapter two

January

Nice to meet you

Nice to meet you

One as sweet as you

To tug and make me move

Like only time should do

Like only gravity does

You’re the center of my orbiting

Never saw ya coming,

never been so struck by a morning

before the sun even rose.

I tip my hat to you

First line of chapter two

January

Nice to meet you

Forgive my attitude

We weren’t expecting to you

January

Can’t wait to see you

Your timing as good

as a vine how you

unwind us both

with your silver lining

I can’t combine the words

You'll be bringing us

You're now the ink to chapters

Three, four, and five

January

I’ll be the canary

When it’s time for you to save yourself

However scary

There I will be

To shield you from the lack of light

I tip my hat to you

First line of chapter two

January

Nice to meet you

Forgive my attitude

We weren’t expecting to you

January

Can’t wait to see you

Can’t wait to see you
