Demon In Your Eyes

As white as my knuckles could of got at the time 

We were wine aging bitterly, fermenting to a fight 

We were alive and never lost sight of our endeavors 

Just lost the want to give a damn about each other 

You were my everything, you carried me into a desert 

Where I wither away at your devilish pleasure 

But you’re further from warmth, than things I can imagine 

You’re so cold, and boldly I took it to the next level

And I swore I’d never lay my hand on a woman ever 

But there you are laying on the ground 

This rage I’ve stored away while we’re together 

Wouldn’t leave me any other way than through your jaw 

As you get back to your feet 

I see a demon in your eyes

You may have knocked me down, but I’m still the woman 

You knew back in high school when I’d race you to the car 

And after class I thought that we could fly away together  

Forever, two songbirds, singing to the stars 

But you took away my youth when you knocked me up

From being exposed to the way you leave me alone 

To find an outlet of my own

But here I am layin’ on the ground

Where did it all go?  

The love we had was passionate years ago 

I guess time has brought us here 

It’s funny how the curtains close on those that cling to fear

I saw the light come through the broken window 

It’s time I become something human once again 

But I’m as empty as the day before I met you 

And I hope there’s peace for us in the end 

As I pack my things I saw a demon leave your eyes
